Cornerstone Ministries was birthed out of a response to the call to preach the Gospel by Pastor Tommy Fromenthal.

The work here started in 1983 with a small group in a Bible study. The Lord blessed and the Bible study soon became a church. Pastor Tommy's love for people and genuine desire to spread the Gospel soon spilled over to the growing congregation. Hurting people from all walks of life began coming and receiving Christ. During those early years in ministry the church experienced many miracles as lives were changed and the area of the city in which the church had been planted, began to come alive. The sites that once were comon to the historic section of the city, men sleeping in the park, poverty and abandoned buildings, began to disappear. In their place were freshly painted buildings, children playing in the nearby park, and neighbors coming once again out on the sidewalks to visit. The presence of God was being experienced by all. Soon the church grew to capacity and had to move. A movie theater, only one block away had been vacated, and Pastor had a vision. He boldly declared the place as the Lords. In a matter of months the church had purchased, renovated, and moved into the new facility. As the work continued to grow other buildings were purchased and the ministry was expanded. We now have seperate buildings for our Children's sanctuary and another for our Youth. The ministry is still growing today under the direction of the Holy Spirit. Cornerstone reaches around the world supporting missions in several foreign countries. The work at home continues to expand with a vision to reach our city for Jesus. Isa. 62:1 says "For Zion's sake I will not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem's sake I will not rest, until her righteousness go forth as brightness, and her salvation as a lamp that burneth." 

Today, people of every city cry out to God, even in their hearts for fulfillment of life. Only through the preaching of the glorious Gospel can our blinders be removed, that Jesus' love may be found. And through a personal relationship with him can life have it's true meaning. We as a people called by God wish to show his love & declare his truth that true freedom can only be found in Jesus Christ. "You shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free."  With a burning love in our hearts we pray for Morgan City, that salvation may come as a lamp that burns.
