Our History

It all started in 1982,when...

a small group of people meeting for a weekly Bible Study in a duplex on Railroad Ave. in Morgan City. One night, a fire broke out, destroying the building and forcing the small group to find a new location.

After much prayer, the group decided that they wanted to be more than a Bible study, they wanted to be a church. For several months, they held church meetings in Pastor Tommy Fromenthal's home until a building could be found.

In June of 1983, one side of an old paint store became available at 404 Everett St. On July 7th, Cornerstone Ministries held it's first meeting in it's new location.

The Church grew steadily, and soon a small building across the street from the church was rented out as a children's area.  In 1985, the entire paint store building was purchased.

As the Lord blessed, it became apparent that the building was not going to be large enough to accommodate the growth of the church.  In November of 1986, the property at 308 Everett St, formerly the Opera House Theater, was purchased, and rennovations began.

The first service was held in the new building on April 21st, 1987. We continue to meet and grow in this location today.

As time has passed, the Lord has continued to bless, and today Cornerstone Ministries owns four buildings in historic Morgan City.

Over the years, we have seen God do some tremendous things, both in the church and through the church as we continue to  reach out to those who are lost and hurting in our community. We have also seen a great change in downtown Morgan City through the years.

We invite you to come and be a part of history in the making, here at Cornerstone.
